Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) is responsible for evaluating clients to diagnose and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. This role provides psychiatric assessment, medication management, and collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment teams to support high-quality mental health care.

Details

1.    Provide direct medical services to clients, including psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management, ensuring prescribing practices comply with applicable laws and current community medical standards.
2.    Accurately document all services provided in the medical record in accordance with established recordkeeping standards and regulatory requirements.
3.    Provide indirect medical services through the review of required clinical documentation, including Intake Assessments, Treatment Plans, SED/SMI Certifications, ADHD Certifications, and other documentation as required. (Documentation requirements may change periodically.)
4.    Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, counselors, psychiatric nurses, and other healthcare professionals to discuss treatment plans, coordinate care, and review client progress.
5.    Order appropriate laboratory or diagnostic tests and review results to determine necessary follow-up care.
6.    Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and professional standards.
7.    Maintain availability for after-hours consultation by phone in the event of a crisis situation or ensure appropriate substitute coverage is arranged.
8.    Comply with all standards and guidelines outlined in the Professional Services Agreement.
9.    Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE
Must be licensed in the State of Arkansas as a Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist (MHCNS) or Psychiatric Mental Health Advanced Nurse Practitioner (PMHANP).

JOB SKILLS
Required:
•    Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with clients, clinical staff, administrative staff, and support personnel.
•    Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
•    Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred:
•    Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health records.
•    Excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills.
