DeShawnna DeFord began her career with Families, Inc. in April 2009, serving as Human Resources Assistant. She was promoted to Human Resources Coordinator in December 2010 and later to Human Resources Generalist in November 2022.
As Human Resources Generalist, DeShawnna is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the HR department while working closely with the Director of Human Resources to support a culture of continuous improvement. Her responsibilities include recruiting support, onboarding coordination, staff record management, benefits administration, payroll processing, compliance reporting, and facilitating new hire orientations. DeShawnna also assists with updating job descriptions and HR forms, oversees employee benefit enrollments and terminations, responsible for payroll administration, and handles unemployment claims. She serves as a key point of contact for employees regarding benefits, policies, and payroll, helping to ensure an efficient and staff-focused workplace.
DeShawnna graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.
In her free time, DeShawnna enjoys spending time and traveling with her husband, Jay, and their son, Asher. She is also a proud dog mom to Romo, Lola, Swede, and Dan Dan, and loves spoiling them every chance she gets.
