We are proud to announce that Dr. Pawel Kurylo has been named our new Medical Director, beginning September 2025!
Dr. Kurylo joined Families, Inc. in January 2018 as a Staff Psychiatrist and has been a tremendous asset to our team ever since. A graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, he earned his Doctor of Medicine in 2007 after completing his Bachelor of Science in Biology, Magna Cum Laude, at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He went on to complete both his internship and residency in Psychiatry at UAMS.
Before joining Families, Inc., Dr. Kurylo served as a Staff Psychiatrist and later as Associate Director of Telemental Health with the Central Arkansas Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, where he was instrumental in expanding access to care for rural communities through innovative telehealth approaches.
As Medical Director, Dr. Kurylo will oversee all medical services, supervise our psychiatric team, guide clinical performance standards, and lead initiatives to ensure best practices and high-quality care across the agency. He is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, licensed in Arkansas, and an active member of both the American Psychiatric Association and the Arkansas Psychiatric Society.
Originally from Poland, Dr. Kurylo has lived in the United States since 1985. He now calls Jonesboro home, where he enjoys life with his wife, children, and pets. In his spare time, he loves cooking, fishing, music, and spending time with family.
At the same time, we want to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. John Burnett for his 10 years of outstanding service as Medical Director. Dr. Burnett’s leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment to quality care have left a lasting mark on our clients, staff, and community. While we will miss him dearly, we are excited for his future endeavors and wish him nothing but the best in this next chapter. 💙
