Shelly Horton, LPC
Shelly is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Coordinator of School-Based Mental Health Services for Families, Inc. She has been a provider of mental health services for 25 years, of which the last 8 years have been with Families, Inc. Shelly has provided a variety of services over the years including counseling/therapy, case management, educational presentations, in-patient screening/admission coordination, and marketing. She has served in the position of School-Based Coordinator for Families, Inc. since November 2006 and is a Certified Instructor for Youth Mental Health First Aid. Based in Jonesboro, Shelly works closely with the clinic supervisors to coordinate the services delivered within the school setting.
Prior to joining Famlies, Inc. in 2005 as a Case Manager in the Searcy clinic, Shelly worked in Marketing and Administration for a number of healthcare organizations including inpatient geriatric psychiatry, long-term care nursing centers, and community mental health.
Shelly received her Associate of Arts degree from Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, MO, then went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with an area of concentration in Zoology, as well as a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling, both from Arkansas State University.
She is a member of the Arkansas Counselors Association and Arkansas School Counselors Association, the American Association of Christian Counselors, and serves on the Arkansas Crisis Response Team. She is also a member of Family Fellowship Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
Shelly enjoys singing, listening to music (contemporary Christian, bluegrass, and classic rock and roll), watching reality TV, and repurposing antiques. She and her husband, Darren, enjoy endless hours of fetch and Frisbee with their two border collies, Mollie Sue and Ozzie Dean.
