Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), Shelly Horton, has served as both the School-Based Coordinator and as a Therapist since November, 2006. Based in Jonesboro, Shelly works closely with the clinic supervisors to coordinate the services delivered within the school setting. She also carries a small caseload.
Prior to joining Famlies, Inc. in 2005 as a Case Manager in the Searcy clinic, Shelly worked in Marketing and Administration for a number of healthcare organizations including inpatient geriatric psychiatry and community mental health where she has close to 20 years experience.
Shelly received her Associate of Arts degree from Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, MO, then went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with an area of concentration in Zoology, as well as a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling, both from Arkansas State University.
She is a member of both the American and Arkansas Mental Health Counselors Associations, the Arkansas Mental Health in Education Association, and serves on the Arkansas Crisis Response Team. She is also a member of the Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
Shelly enjoys singing, listening to music (contemporary Christian, bluegrass, and classic rock and roll), exercising, and is learning to play the mandolin. She and her husband Darren have one cat, Gizmo. |
