Families Outreach: We Serve The Community
Families Outreach is a community service organization that has as its focus and goals: to provide comprehensive mental health services to individuals and their families who are unable to pay for those services by other means; and to educate the community and its service providers regarding mental health issues, needs and treatments.
We Serve The CommunityThe pressures of everyday life - work, school, relationships, etc. affect our daily lives, oftentimes in a negative way. Mental health counseling may be needed to balance those pressures.  However, there are many needs not being met due to financial circumstances. Families Outreach, Inc. will seek funding through grants and contributions to fund comprehensive mental health services to individuals and their families who are unable to pay for those services by other means.

Families Outreach, Inc. recognizes the significant stigma and fear attached to mental illness and emotional disorders within the general population of the community.

Those fears and stigma are the most pronounced in some of our more vulnerable citizens - the children, the elderly and the low income level families.

Families Outreach, Inc. will develop and implement specialized brochures, training materials, and multimedia public service announcements; networking such to local schools, nursing homes, residential care centers, civic groups, and similar organizations to help better serve the community. Additionally, Families Outreach, Inc. will participate in local educational forums offered by the medical and higher education community and will conduct seminars and conferences. These services will be offered free of charge to the general public. In fundraising efforts, there will be a charge to other mental health providers.

The STAR (Students Thinking and Responding) program will be implemented in many of the schools in which Families, Inc. is contracted to provide mental health services. STAR is a school-wide program that has as its number one goal to help students make good decisions. The educational component will serve students, families, teachers and staff.
